SKITTLES REPORT  -  PENARTH TIMES.

Week Ending 3rd December,2011

Both matches this week feature teams playing at the Old Penarthians Club.  Riding high in the Men’s Premier Division, you would expect the Cavaliers to maintain their momentum when playing at home against the bottom side in the division, Railway Sleepers.  And so it proved to be, with the Cavaliers winning three of the first four rolls to take a commanding lead of nineteen pins, whilst the Sleepers appeared to be living up to their name.  It was all change on the final roll, with the Cavaliers plugging away with steady rolls in the low 50’s, the Sleepers suddenly woke up and hit the highest roll of the evening to reduce the deficit to a mere eight pins.  P Mathias top scored for the Cavaliers with a nice looking 26, and L Griffiths and J Candy each scored 26 for the Sleepers.  This result leaves the Cavaliers chasing the top spot in the division, and rooting the Sleepers to the foot of the table.

In the Ladies First Division, Old Pennies and Conservative Ladies are tied in the top half of the table with ten points each, and both teams were looking to put some daylight between their opponents.  The Pennies made life more difficult by having to play one player short, but boy did they put up a fight.  After three rolls the Pennies were ahead by three pins and needed a good couple of rolls to finish.  But it was not to be. Setting the Ladies a paltry 32 for victory they watched as the Ladies struggled to get anywhere near their target, and it was thanks to Laney Jones, who hit a seven to settle the match in the Ladies favour.
